How Do You Choose An Impact Model For Your Business?
Are you feeling the groundswell of business for good?
I am, but with it arises a common question (because it’s still so new for many):
Should I adopt an impact model that’s the same as my competitor’s?
It makes sense. What else do we have to compare with but what we can already see in the market?
Some better questions to ask are:
✅ Does the impact model authentically connect with what we sell?
✅ Is it related to our #purpose or #values and something we are passionate about?
✅ Does it make sense to our team, our customers and market?
✅ Can it be bolted into our business model?
✅ Is it measurable and able to be communicated simply and incrementally?
In interviews we conducted it was emphasized time and again:
“the business must already be doing it regardless of us becoming a customer.”
Without authenticity and relevance, and the impact being transaction driven, it can be perceived as cause-washing, or a sales tactic at best.
Don’t get me wrong, giving is good. It feels good, it’s good for the receiver, and it creates good karma – when done with the right intentions!
But it can be really challenging to work out the ideal impact model for your business.
