What do a smiling newborn and an SEO friendly website rebuild have in common?
What’s a smiling newborn got to do with a Search Engine Optimised, Mobile Friendly, Content Driven website rebuild?
I may have hinted at this recently, but under the advice of my coach I kicked off a project that we do for others – only for ourselves this time!
What, the plumber is fixing his own pipes?! Rather, the branding agency preaching that “your website must attract & convert leads”, is rebuilding their own to do just that!
Yes, we are elbows deep in a Search Engine Optimised, Mobile Friendly, Content Driven website rebuild. Enough buzz words in that sentence?
What this actually means is that because our team is growing (with awesome people around the world – we love technology!). And the size of the impact we want to make is growing too (speak to me about causes).
So we need a high quality lead generating machine that feeds us a continuous stream of awesome, values aligned new clients while we sleep! And while we are at work too. 🙂
And yes, I have a four week old newborn! Making that need to generate new clients while we sleep even more relevant. A newborn looks at everything with fresh eyes. That’s what this website rebuild also requires.
So, step one is finally complete.
We’ve done an exhaustive Search Engine Optimisation audit on our existing website and social media to see exactly where we stand. How can you work out the direction you need to go without knowing where you are right now, right?
This was a MASSIVE learning process. Initially I engaged an external agency to do this for us, but was completely unsatisfied with the results.
I want to be able to understand what the audit said. And a usable plan to build our new website from (or refine the current one – whichever made sense most). It was not what I received, which was gobbledygook and tech speak, completely unusable to me.
Due to this I decided on a bold move. I would find the best SEO gun on the planet, and compel them to join our awesome team.
Now, that was a challenge too! It took about 7 weeks of wading through a river of average to good applicants before we found our gun. Each paid to deliver the same Sponge website audit (I believe in fairness and equality!). And a weapon we did find!
Our newest team member Ioana (pronounced e-wa-na), while not climbing rock faces in exotic locations, sits confidently on the bleeding edge of SEO know-how. She’s sharp as a tack, insightful, and she gets it!
Ioana translates the geekiness of the industry into plain English that we you and I can understand. More importantly, into actions we can take.
We have our SEO audit done and a site structure that will make us filter to the top of results in Google for what we want. As well as giving our visitors a tailored, pleasurable and user friendly experience to find all that they need – and make the logical next step.
I have gone a little deeper than intended here, and if you are reading this far, thank you. If you’re interested in hearing about the steps that follow, please let me know and I will continue to share them.
Similarly, if the an SEO audit by our very own SEO gun sounds good to you, we can help you with that too (contact us).
Warmly, Luke
