We Hate to See You Go, We Love to Watch You Grow
I’d like to celebrate two awesome humans today. They have both been vital members of our Sponge team. And while we love them, and would love them to stay with us forever, we are delighted to see them move on.
Our value: Big Love, Like Family means our team and clients are family. We have each other’s backs and are devoted to every member’s success.
The success we want for our team and our clients is total fulfilment in life, both professionally and personally. As advocates of purpose and positive impact, this kind of fulfilment only comes when living a life true to our calling.
Eden
Eden joined us close to a year ago and in that short time made a big impression. I was looking for a unicorn when I found her. I wanted a Social Media Manager who was also a Virtual Assistant, with strong copywriting skills.
From the moment Eden responded to my LinkedIn message, her alignment with our values was clear. Since then, she has embodied our culture across all her work, bringing a gentle positive energy to our team and clients. And her work has always been delightfully awesome (another Sponge value!).
After moving from the city back to her family’s village, life had changed for her and her husband. I could sense her pulling away, so I checked in. Having become deeply involved with work in her community, she realised she wanted to devote all of herself to that purpose.
As much as I want my family to find their true purpose, I want it for our team. I am happy when they do, even if it means leaving The Sponge. And so it is with Eden. We are delighted to see her go where her purpose takes her. Should her path lead her back to us, we will welcome her with open arms. Eden, we love you.
Ernesto
Next up in this celebration of awesomeness is Ernesto, an amazingly talented video editor and motion graphics artist. His work for us and our clients has always impressed. He has taken very ordinary raw footage of me and transformed it into pure awesome every time.
Ernesto was travelling through Europe as the Covid-19 virus was beginning to emerge. He faced huge challenges in returning home to Guadalajara, including a car accident that put him in hospital. Difficult as they are, these kinds of challenges can also refocus.
I heard from Ernesto recently in an excited flurry. A new purpose came shining through in the new calling he had found. He is now providing help to people striving for a better life for their families. The volunteer role has evolved into a full-time role and he is happy. We unreservedly celebrate this with him. Ernesto, we love you.
As our team changes and grows, we are delighted to witness the positive impact each team member creates. Whether that impact is for our clients, for their family, or for their community, it’s all good!
Fiercely Protective of Our Culture
If you haven’t noticed yet, we are fiercely protective of our company culture. We believe that our culture is our brand. It is how we show up in the world. That is why we put so much emphasis on culture alignment in our recruitment process. Alignment comes first. That’s why we lead with purpose and our values. And we recommend you do too!
The Sponge is experiencing growth as the market evolves to the demand for brands to be more purposeful. As such we have the need for more awesome people to join our team. We can’t wait to see who gravitates towards us, and the positive impact they will have on the world.
